Teresa Oaxaca, a Washington D.C.-based American artist, paints with a focus on pleasing the eye and capturing the beauty of unconventional pairings. Her artworks, displayed in collections worldwide, have garnered recognition from esteemed institutions like the American Museum of the Cowboy and The Portrait Society of America. With a diverse training background including studies in Florence and an apprenticeship with Odd Nerdrum, Teresa now teaches workshops across the United States and Europe. In addition to her studio work, she takes on portrait commissions and actively participates in local art groups and organizations. Her unique approach involves incorporating human and still life elements into elaborate compositions, drawing inspiration from the Old Masters and Victorian and Baroque aesthetics. Teresa’s craftsmanship, rooted in traditional oil painting and a strong foundation in design, results in breathtaking illusions of light and form.
